Who runs the free IQ test, how it is built and scored, and how we make money.
MyIQTested is run by My Plaza Pty Ltd (ABN 58 110 054 245), an Australian company based at the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus in New South Wales. The same company runs SeeMyPersonality and Quiz Maker.
A free IQ test has run at this address since 2016. The current 33-question test launched in April 2026, and the page you took it on was rebuilt in September 2026 around what we had measured in the months between.
The test and every explainer on the site are written and reviewed by Michael Hodge, Bachelor of Science (Psychology), University of Wollongong, the company’s founder and assessment director. There is no separate editorial team behind the byline: what he signs, he wrote or checked.
One test, free. Thirty-three multiple-choice reasoning questions: 20 matrix puzzles, 6 series and logic problems, 4 verbal and 3 numerical questions. The questions are our own, written to the open item types described by Condon and Revelle’s International Cognitive Ability Resource (2014). They are not ICAR items, and ICAR’s published statistics do not describe them.
Your score is worked out in your browser the moment you finish. The IQ score, the percentile and the breakdown by question type open on the results page with no email, no account and no card. Nothing in the result is held back to sell you something later.
Around the test sit the pages people ask for before and after it: the IQ scale chart, what a specific score means, how far to trust an online test, and our own research on scores by country, built from first attempts on this test and published with the method.
Every question is worth the same three points. Sixteen or seventeen correct out of 33 lands at about 100, and the scale stops at 55 at the bottom. The reference point is fixed rather than re-estimated from takers, which is one reason online scores run higher than supervised ones. We say so on the results page, and we would rather you read your number as a position on this test than as a clinical IQ.
The full scoring rule, the item list and the limits we know about are on the methodology page.
We sell an optional certificate and report after the test. That is the only product. The score, the percentile and the breakdown are never behind it, and you can close the offer and keep everything you were shown.
If you buy a certificate and it is not right for you, we refund the full amount within 60 days, no questions asked. The refund policy has the details. The site also shows advertising on some pages.
It is not a clinical assessment and it does not diagnose anything. A clinical IQ comes from a psychologist, one to one, over a longer battery. A short unsupervised test carries more error than that, online scores run high, and your number should be read as a range of several points either side.
It is not validated for hiring, admissions or any other selection decision, and our terms do not allow it to be used for one.
